TYPES OF COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES ON OFFER (WEST CORK) :
i) INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING – SHORT TERM
This shorter-term work typically involves up to six sessions. This work can be quite solution focused. It is suited to you if you need support around one particular difficulty.
ii) INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY – LONGER TERM
Individual psychotherapy – which involves a longer-term commitment i.e. more than six sessions – can bring into your awareness the parts of yourself which have been hidden for much of your life. Each of us develops patterns of thought and behaviour in childhood, which are suited to that period of our life but may not be serving us well as adults. The gift Psychotherapy offers is that it can help you find your true self – to meet the world with authenticity, ease and passion – a wonderful prospect!
iii) COUPLES COUNSELLING
Relationships in modern times can be particularly challenging, as our lives have become busier and more complex than ever. Inevitably couples experience difficult periods and at such times, can benefit from attending Couples Counselling to improve their pattern of communicating, and resolve difference. It is always worth addressing before difficulties escalate.
iv) FAMILY COUNSELLING
Sometimes, when an individual (who is attending therapy) is experiencing protracted difficulty with their relationships, it is most beneficial to invite other members of the family, as appropriate to attend sessions together (on an ad hoc basis) to bring about more ease in their communication and ways of being with one another.
